Hemant Jain is Vice President, Commercial Electricity Supply for the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the largest state public power organization in the nation. He drives commercial management of NYPA’s hydropower and fossil fuel portfolio, from daily market bidding and hedging strategy evolution to stronger commercial management of the existing long-term supply contracts and contractual assets. Hemant joined NYPA in 2022 with more than 25 years of energy industry experience at investor owned utilities and an energy supply company. In previous roles, he led day-to-day commercial operations, and managed retail electricity pricing, hedging and demand response products for a 10-gigawatt asset portfolio across PJM Interconnection, the New York Independent System Operator and ISO New England. Most recently he led a digital technology company focused on the data management of assets in the energy demand response markets. Hemant holds a Bachelor of Engineering from SGS Institute of Technology & Science in India, a Master of Technology from Indian Institute of Technology in India, and a Master of Business Administration from Marshall University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in West Virginia.
