As a long time American Electric Power (AEP) employee, Thrasher held many leadership roles within the company's hydrogeneration group. Thrasher joined AEP in 1989 as a civil engineer and worked in dam safety and project engineering. He then managed ten run of river hydrogeneration plants before completing his career with AEP as the maintenance superintendent responsibile for civil and mechanical work for AEP's hydrogeneration fleet. Currently Thrasher works for Thompson/HCMS in their consulting engineering group. Thrasher is a registered civil engineer, member of the NHA and former board member of same.
