Senior Water Resources Engineer, Dakota County
Josh Petersen is a senior water resources engineer at Dakota County and manages one county-owned high hazard project located in the southeast portion of Minnesota. His primary duties include management of the facility operations and chief dam safety engineer for this high hazard hydroelectric project. Josh has implemented several projects including a new crest gate spillway, repairs and refurbishment of the existing facility, and the soon to be implemented turbine and powerhouse upgrade project. Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University in 2007 and has his professional engineer’s license in Minnesota. He also serves on the board for the Midwest Hydropower Users Group (MHUG) as Treasurer. Josh has worked in the water resources industry for fifteen years and spent over ten years working on dam related projects.
