Quentin Ploussard

Energy Systems Engineer, Energy Systems and Infrastructure Analysis Division, Argonne National Laboratory
Quentin Ploussard is an Energy Systems Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory. He has 10 years experience providing technical support and managing projects related to power systems and energy markets. He develops detailed optimization models and performed techno-economic analyses to improve the performance and cost-effectiveness of hydropower generation. He has been involved in numerous projects with the Western Area Power Administration and the Bureau of Reclamation to analyze the impact of evolving energy markets and drought conditions on federal hydropower plants. In particular, he serves as Lead Investigator for a forward-looking financial analysis of experimental water releases to be conducted at the Flaming Gorge Dam that could add > $1 million in hydropower value. He also published numerous reports analyzing the financial impact of past experimental releases conducted at the Glen Canyon Dam, the Flaming Gorge Dam, and the Aspinall Cascade. He has been and is collaborating with other laboratories on several DOE-funded projects to close the modeling gap between Production Cost Models and Hydropower Scheduling Tools and to identify hydropower operations that simultaneously benefit the environment and enhance hydropower economic value.
