Ryan Hansen, Hydropower Outreach Coordinator, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
Ryan Hansen has been with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for sixteen years working as a fisheries biologist on hydropower licensing proceedings. He is the Hydropower Outreach Coordinator for FERC responsible for helping to educate hydropower stakeholders about non-federal hydropower licensing in the U.S. He has worked on the licensing of hydropower projects of all sizes but specializes in assisting small hydropower developers navigate the FERC process. Prior to his time at the FERC, he worked for both state and federal resource agencies as a fisheries biologist in both the Mid-Atlantic region and in the Great Lakes. Mr. Hansen earned his bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Memphis and his Masters in Environmental Science and Public Policy at George Mason University. He grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and has lived in Washington DC since 1999.
