Steve Wenke is Chief Generation Engineer for Avista, an electric and gas utility with facilities in the states of Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana. Recently, he has been active in developing an asset management program and has worked with Avista’s NERC and WECC compliance efforts, focusing on the Generator Operator and Generator Owner compliance requirements. Steve has been with Avista for more than 25 years, most of that time working in their generating department. For the past 20+ years he has lead the generation engineering group which is responsible for design, maintenance and operations support of Avista’s generating assets. During his time with Avista he has overseen new plant developments, major overhauls and upgrades, and plant control automation programs. Steve is active in the National Hydropower Association, currently serving on its Board of Directors. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Hydro Research Foundation. Steve graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
